Does riding through the prairie count as mountain biking if I can see the mountains on the horizon?

Another photo from last week’s Mt Falcon run.

This is the “my-sweaty-palm-dripped-all-over-my-phone-camera-lens” filter.  Keen.

Dear Mt Falcon,

We’ve only just met, but I can already tell we’re going to have a complicated relationship - one of those deals where I obsess about our next time together even though every moment with you is pain and abuse.

See you in a week.

Aaaaaaaaaaaand that’s enough keyboard diarrhea

Couple of notes:

  1. I didn’t even get to the top of Mt Falcon proper - made it to the first local maxima and called it quits. (And maxima is totally a word so suck it Tumblr spell check)
  2. Does a 13 min/mile pace on the climb count as running?
  3. The photo is looking down on Red Rocks amphitheater.

cambooth:

The Great Denver Thunderstorm of 2012.

Taken while cowering in my hotel room at the unbridled force of nature. This storm had it all: golf-ball sized hail, lightning strikes every two to three minutes for hours on end, tornado warnings… yikes!

The first shot is the only photo that came out okay; the rest are all still frames from some video I shot.

Two more lupine pictures from Roxborough.

I got in a quick ride this afternoon now that my bike is unpacked and reassembled!  I needed a warm-up ride to make sure I put everything back together properly.  No pieces fell off, which is excellent.  I haven’t found all of my tools yet, so some of the components are only finger tight.

Highlights from Waterton Canyon:

  1. Some seriously disaffected bighorns giving me the hairy eye
  2. Lots of gently climbing dirt road with a gut-busting singletrack climb at the end

I’m so excited to be back in Colorado and doing things like this again.
